Oath of Radiance

Marduk held aloft his warhammer, shouting a prayer to his god. The weapon burst alight with the radiance of the rising sun, shining in the darkness like a beacon amidst the undead horde. The paladin roared in defiance at the undead, now recoiling from him, ‘Feel now, the wrath of the LIGHT!”

Marduk, a Paladin, sworn to the Oath of Radiance

The Oath of Radiance is a beacon in the night, burning away the corruption of shadow and undeath. Radiant paladins are bold and brash, abhorring stealth and grandly striding into battle against the forces of darkness. Paladins who swear the Oath of Radiance are devoted to fighting the forces of darkness, whether they be undead or servants of shadow.

These paladins are granted powers that make them the bane of any undead foes. Through their Channel Divinity, they can imbue their weapons or holy symbols with divine light, overcoming magical darkness and weakening any nearby undead, and their Aura of Resolves ability allows them to bolster their allies’ ability to resist the effects of such creatures as ghouls, ghasts, and liches.

Roleplaying Tips.
Paladins who swear the Oath of Radiance take it upon themselves to rescue those corrupted by Shadow or undead influence. They will spare mortal foes in the thrall of darkness in the hope that such creatures can be redeemed. While they are overwhelmingly good-aligned, some embrace the lawful nature of knightly orders while others choose the more neutral philosophy of a knight errant. When choosing a background, consider whether they may have previously served as a member of the church as an acolyte or healer, or perhaps a more martial-oriented role such as infantry or mercenary recruit. Or for an interesting roleplay challenge, you could play as a darkling, a creature of darkness who has sought the Oath of Radiance to redeem themselves.
