Let’s Dabble…

As promised, this blog will cover some of the recent modeling enhancements. It will also introduce a new tutorial video that shows the creation of a new magical tinkering class we call the Dabbler and include link to the package containing the Dabbler.

We are continuously adding to the modeling options that are available on Shard. As a matter of principle, we do not have any hidden tools that we use for design. Everything we use is available to the users to create their own content. In the most recent releases, we added a few things and reorganized the modeling UI to make things easier to find. A full description of all those options can be found here.

If you’d prefer to see them in action, the most comprehensive tutorial we have ever produced is inline below and available on the tutorials page. It shows the complete creation of a new base class called the Dabbler. It also shows the creation and full modeling of a subclass (there are four in the current version), the creation of a custom spell list, the creation of a custom type to describe all the concoctions that dabbler’s use to create things, and last but not least the creation of a companion creature for the dabbler.

Creation of the dabbler was inspired by a recent spate of publications about magical tinkerers and inventors in a variety of settings and by a variety of publishers. There is no parallel for it in the 5th edition system reference document (SRD), so we created our own.

You can add the full class, its subclasses, concoctions, companion creatures and unique items here.

We hope you enjoy the new features, the tutorial, and the Dabbler.
